How did you come to be a yacht captain?
Martonio: My whole life has been related to the sea. It was just a matter of time when I would get involved with yachts and the charter industry. I became captain of a 60ft yacht when I was 24.
For how long have you been on MY Fiducia?
Martonio: This is 3rd season that MY Fiducia and I have been together :)
What would your top 3 recommendations be for places to visit/see on a charter in the Adriatic?
Martonio: The Islands of Hvar, Lastovo, and Mljet.
The Island of Hvar is the “in” place to be in the summer, known for its clean turquoise sea and vibrant nightlife, with some of the best bars, restaurants and clubs in Dalmatia. Besides that, the charming and picturesque towns of Hvar, Stari Grad and Vrboska are not to be missed.
The Island of Lastovo is the most remote inhabited island in the Adriatic Sea. Here life moves at its own pace. I always recommend it to guests who want pure relaxation and complete rest.
Mljet is the greenest island, mostly covered with lush Mediterranean forest. The western part of the island has been declared a National Park. Mljet is the ideal destination for those who enjoy hiking, cycling, kayaking and scuba diving, or just chilling in secluded bays.
What is your favorite beach that you always recommend that guests should visit?
My favorite beach is Zlatni rat (Golden horn) which I consider to be the symBOL of the Adriatic coast.
Why would you recommend MY Fiducia to somebody looking to charter?
Based in Split, MY Fiducia is ideal for exploring Central Dalmatian islands such as Šolta, Brač, Hvar and Vis, but you can also cruise along the whole Adriatic coast. Water toys complement any yacht charter. Which toys does MY Fiducia offer and which are the most popular in your opinion?
SUP boards are becoming more and more popular nowadays, and we have 2 of them. Besides that, there is a Seabob F7 which is a super toy for both kids and grownups. Snorkeling equipment is a “must have” for exploring bays and underwater. One special “toy” on board MY Fiducia is a drone with a camera to capture unforgettable moments and destinations from the air.
How do you create the perfect charter experience for your guests?
I pay maximum attention to every detail. I stay completely at my guests’ disposal.
I always try to make guests on board MY Fiducia feel like it is their second home, to be safe and relaxed. This means that the Captain has to be in control of the boat and the situation at all times. In addition to all that, the Captain has to have good knowledge of the cruising area and connections in every port, a good reputation and of course – plan B :)
MY Fiducia has one unique feature to offer its guests - drone memories. Can you tell us more about that?
As I mentioned before we have a drone with a camera on board. My hobby is photography and I’m happy to share my experience with my guests. While guests are swimming, diving or doing water sports, the drone is capturing their activities in 4K video resolution, or 12 M pixels photos. This brings together guests and destinations on the same photos from a bird’s perspective. Chartering the yacht gives you the privilege to visit places that are usually accessible only by boat. Why not capture those moments and keep them in your gallery? Or maybe bring home a short video of an adventure from Croatia – says Martonio.
