To begin, what inspired you to enter the yachting industry?
CAPTAIN: It all started during my university years, where I worked as a freelance skipper during my spare time. That experience led me to make the decision to pursue a career in the industry at a higher level, striving to maintain exceptional standards. The inspiring factors for me were not only the great working environment but also the opportunity to be surrounded by diverse individuals and forge meaningful connections with new people.
Could you tell us a little bit about your education and background, and how it has helped you in your current position?
CAPTAIN: My educational background combines mechanical engineering with a deep passion for the sea. I completed the bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, which laid a strong foundation for my understanding of the technical aspects involved in yacht operations. However, it was my experience as a skipper during university days that fueled the desire to pursue a master's degree in Marine Engineering. The combination of academic background and practical experience has been invaluable in shaping my current position and equipping me with the necessary expertise to excel in the industry.
What has been one of the most memorable experiences you have had in your career?
CAPTAIN: Throughout my career, I have been fortunate enough to encounter numerous memorable experiences. However, the ones that truly stand out are the incredible relationships I have forged with my clients during charter trips. The opportunity to establish a strong bond and witness how these connections evolve into long-lasting friendships is truly priceless. These experiences serve as a constant reminder of the profound impact yachting can have on people's lives.
In your opinion, what is the most challenging aspect of working in the yachting industry?
CAPTAIN: The pursuit of perfection is the most challenging aspect in the yachting industry. From ensuring flawless operations and impeccable service to maintaining the vessel's condition and meeting the unique preferences of each client, the demands for perfection are ever-present. It requires attention to detail, continuous learning, and a commitment to excellence.
